PALACIO DO CORREIO MOR
A JEWISH WEDDING AT PALÁCIO DO CORREIO-MOR
LISBON. PORTUGAL
LIBBY & ROB
A destination Jewish wedding at one of Portugal's most coveted palaces.
Lisbon sunlight, family tradition, and a celebration that didn't want to end.
On a warm May afternoon, the ceremony unfolded in the inner courtyard of Palácio do Correio-Mor, an 18th-century estate on the outskirts of Lisbon and one of Portugal's most coveted private wedding venues. Beneath a chuppah built from a wall of garden roses in coral, blush, sky blue, and gold, Libby and Rob stood face to face. One hundred and twenty family and friends had flown in from across the United States and Europe to be there. The afternoon sun lit the peach walls of the courtyard and held the moment in a kind of soft, suspended light.
The ceremony carried the full weight of Jewish tradition. The ketubah was signed in one of the palace's inner rooms before the vows, witnessed by parents on both sides. The rabbi led every blessing in Hebrew and English, the Sheva Brachot rising slowly under the arches. Guests wore kippot. And when Rob brought his foot down and broke the glass, the courtyard erupted in a single, unbroken voice of mazel tov that echoed off the stone. Libby's veil caught the light. Cameras went down. People wept and cheered in the same breath.
Outside the palace gates, a vintage silver Mercedes cabriolet was waiting on the cobblestones, chrome against peach, a getaway frame we still talk about. Then came the dinner, the speeches, and a hora that lifted both of them above a sea of raised hands and never seemed to land. The band played for hours. The dance floor never emptied. By the end of the night, ties were undone, shoes were off, and the celebration ran long into the morning hours, the way only the best ones do.
More than a wedding venue Palácio do Correio-Mor is a piece of Portugal's living history.
Step inside one of Portugal's most
ICONIC PALACES
Palácio do Correio-Mor is an 18th-century estate just outside Lisbon, known for its ornate facades, frescoed halls, and grand courtyards drenched in peach and gold. Built as a private nobleman's residence and still privately held today, the palace opens to only a handful of weddings each year, by personal invitation alone.
As wedding photographers based in Portugal, we've come to know this palace intimately, every angle of its light, every quiet corner of its inner courtyards. To photograph here is rare. To photograph a Jewish wedding of this scale and tradition here is rarer still.
